Brett Budde

For the past 18 years, Brett Budde has proudly called Fallsburg home. Together with his wife Sara and their two children, Walker (13), and Rocket (12), Brett Budde runs Majestic Farm, where he grows food for local families, provides jobs, and creates a place where neighbors can learn and work together.

Brett Budde earned a Master’s Degree from Yale University and believes education should lead to service. That belief guides everything Brett Budde does — from farming to mentoring to standing up for Fallsburg families.

Beyond the farm, Brett Budde serves with the Sullivan County Cornell Cooperative Extension. He sits on the Advisory Board for the New Farmer Program and is a Farmer Mentor, helping new and beginning farmers get established in Sullivan County. Through this work, Brett Budde helps strengthen local agriculture and keep farming a vital part of our economy and culture.

When one of his wells went dry during a drought — and refilled two weeks after Labor Day while the drought continued — Brett Budde realized Fallsburg has a serious water problem that’s being ignored.

That experience led Brett Budde to join the Fallsburg Coalition for Sustainable Growth. Working with neighbors, Brett Budde helped organize over 400 residents to speak out against zoning changes that would have increased population density without fixing our aging infrastructure. Together, they raised tens of thousands of dollars to hire attorneys who advised the Town on zoning reforms — many of which were adopted.

To keep attention on these issues, Brett Budde organized the Love Our Land Parade in Hurleyville — a peaceful community event that called out the town’s failing water and sewer systems, low water pressure in fire hydrants, and a building department stretched too thin. Brett Budde continues to push for accountability and solutions instead of excuses.
